Tropical storm Arthur serves as a reminder that hurricane season is almost here but the question is: have you prepared for it? We all have had an experience or two with the devastating damage caused by storms and other harsh weather conditions. From those, we learned that it is important and less costly to prepare your home ahead of time to minimize the damage inflicted by the climate. However, it is of utmost importance to attend to your home if already damaged because of the harsh weather that seems to be happening more frequently. Even Georgia’s local government unit has started preparing:
Georgia’s Insurance Commissioner Ralph Hudgens says his office is ready to help consumers with claims linked to an anticipated tropical storm.
Hudgens said Tuesday that his office will offer a toll-free claims assistance line staffed with local insurance experts to help Georgians bounce back from any damage from Tropical Storm Arthur.
Hudgens says consumers should make copies of their insurance policies and take inventory of their personal belongings.
Hudgens says his office also plans to send claims experts to impacted areas if severe weather hits Georgia.
If you’re lucky enough, you won’t have to use your insurance for this. Or maybe it is not about luck.
