After you have replaced your windows this winter, you can use your old windows and recycle them into Valentine’s decorations. All you need is the old frame and glass that was taken off your home and a couple of art supplies. Once you’re done, you will have great decorations that you can enjoy for the holiday, or even leave up all year round.
The Message Window Vintage Valentine’s Decoration
What you will need:
To start, clean the glass on the inside and out. It has been hanging on your house for who knows how many years and probably needs a good cleaning before it is turned into a decoration for your wall. While you are at it, it probably wouldn’t hurt to give the frame a wipe down either.
For old windows that have a single pane of glass, the open area is perfect to put a short, famous love poem or a few words from a love song. Write out what you want to put on the window and figure out how many of each letter you will need, as well as how big you want the letters. Then go to the craft store and purchase the letters you like best. Many people like to have the word “love” stand out on the window by making the letters a different color or a different size.
Once you have attached the letters to the glass the way you want them to be, attach the poster board to the back so that the letters will stand out better.
Vintage Card Valentine’s Decorations
If the old windows you replaced had multiple panes, the divided panes work perfect as individual frames.
What you will need:
In the old window frame affix the vintage Valentine’s Day cards in each section so that the look like individually framed cards. Next, take the ribbon and attach one end to one of the letters and the other end to the bottom of the window frame. Make sure when you attach the wood letters to the bottom of the frame that they are evenly spread out.
When you are done, you will have framed vintage Valentine’s Day cards with the word LOVE dangling below them as a beautiful, vintage Valentine’s Decoration you can put up each year.
