No matter how hectic your schedule is, window maintenance should always be a priority. For instance, homes with sliding windows may need more attention since they have mechanical components and a wide glass area that’s challenging to clean.
Renewal by Andersen® of Knoxville shares some maintainance tips to keep your sliding custom windows clean.
Remove the Insect Screen and Window Sash
To remove the window sash of your Fibrex® windows, move it to the center of the opening. Lift the first sash into the head jamb and pull the bottom of the sash toward you. Repeat these steps with the second sash. You can then release the latches in the insect screen side jambs. Push the insect screen outward to clear the sill and remove from the head channel. After cleaning, reverse the procedure to reinstall the sash and insect screen.
Routine Window Maintenance
Cleaning your sliding windows doesn’t have to be stressful, especially if you know how to handle them. Start by cleaning out dirt and debris from sills and tracks to avoid problems when closing or opening your sliding windows. Use a mild solution of soap and water to clean the frame, sash and grilles. Avoid using abrasive cleaners that may damage the glass surface.
To clean the glass, wipe the loose dirt and grime from the glass with a soft, dry cloth. Apply a cleaning solution to the glass, and scrub it in a circular motion. Remove the cleaning solution using a squeegee. We also recommend using dry lubricant to make operation easier.
