Our window replacement products at Renewal by Andersen® of Atlanta are designed with your convenience in mind, making them the number one choice in fenestration across the country. This said, they require very little maintenance, if at all. Cleaning a Renewal by Andersen double-hung window is actually a pretty easy task and must be done at least once every few weeks or when you start to notice dust buildup on the frames.
Let our window experts at Renewal by Andersen of Atlanta walk you through some basic routine maintenance for your brand-new windows.
Our replacement windows come with our exclusive Fibrex® material. Before anything else, avoid nailing and hammering anything to your Fibrex frames as this could cause irreparable damage. Clean the frames by giving it a quick wipe down with a gentle non-abrasive cloth and a 50-50 mix of water and a mild detergent.
The High-Performance Low-E4™ glass that comes with our line of window replacement products are durable enough to withstand the elements. However, they can benefit from occasional cleaning with a dry non-abrasive cloth. Alternatively, you can also use gentle store-bought glass cleaning solutions as well. In case the installer has not removed the protective plastic film from the glass, make sure to peel it off within six months of installation when the temperature is around 89 °F (32 °C).
Keep the sliding tracks at the edges of your double-hung windows free of any obstruction by vacuuming any dirt or debris that might have accumulated in them over time. This needs to be done as often as necessary to avoid any operational problems with your window.
