Many families on Long Island, and throughout the country, are faced with terrible hardships that prevent them from having everything they would want for their families at this time of year. Particularly in the aftermath of SuperStorm Sandy, which devastated so many throughout the Tri-State area, many families, through no fault of their own, don’t have the resources to make the holidays as happy as they would like for their children.
The staff and employees of Renewal by Andersen of Long Island have taken it upon themselves to do what they can to help make the holidays happy for local children. In cooperation with the U.S. Marine Corps the RBA-LI staff is running it’s own internal Toys for Tots drive.
The Toy drive began December 10th and will run through December 18th when two Marines from the US Marine Corp. come to pick up the entire donation.
“We felt at a time like this many families may find it difficult to make this holiday special for their children and we wanted to be able to lend a helping hand”, Joe Ronzino, president of Renewal by Andersen Long Island said.
Already, 50 gifts for children all ages have been donated. One employee’s child even got in on the act. Matthew Milazzo, son of Renewal by Andersen of Long Island Anthony Milazzo our Field Installation Manager, donated Toys R Us gift cards he received for his birthday to go shopping for other kids to donate to the toy drive. Now that’s Holiday Spirit and selfless giving!
“It has given the employees here an opportunity to give back and make someone’s holiday special. We can’t wait to announce our final toy count at the end of the toy drive,” Ronzino said.
