Window treatments play a huge part in the décor of a room. They are usually one of the first things that people see when they walk in the room because of their size and placement. And the window treatments that you choose to use can really make or break the look of the room.
Because they play such a big part in a room, don’t forget about them when you decorate for the holidays. You would be surprised at how much better a room looks with its holiday décor when the window treatments are incorporated in the holiday decorating.
Change the Color of your Blinds
If you use blinds on your windows, don’t place any type of large picture decoration on the slats. You still want to be able to open and close them to let the sun in during the holidays. Also the slats in most blinds are very flimsy and can’t hold much weight without bending or breaking, so don’t use them to hang any decorations from.
Instead, think about completely replacing the current blinds you have with ones that are in holiday colors. For example, take your white everyday blinds down and put up red ones.
The red ones will add holiday color to your room, and as a bonus it will give you a chance to clean your everyday blinds while they are down for the holidays.
Add to Your Curtains
Think about incorporating your curtains in with your room’s holiday theme by adding to the curtains themselves. For example, if you have a white and snow theme planned, pin snowflakes on the top part of the curtains. Or if you are going for a Victorian theme, think about adding lace over the top of your solid colored curtains.
Festive Curtain Pull Backs
If you are looking to subtly include your window treatments in the holiday decorations, you can do so by simply using a holiday tieback for your curtains. There are so many different things that you can use, that you should have no problem finding something you like or something that will match beautifully with the rest of your décor.
For example, you could:
Basically, anything that you can wrap or bend will work well as a holiday tieback for your curtains or as an addition to any window treatment you may have up.
