There are some homeowners that just need to be different and to stand out. They are the ones that choose colors for their Cincinnati windows and doors that no one else in the neighborhood has, they choose replacement window groupings that are untraditional, and they gravitate towards décor that is unique.
This is not a bad thing, though; if we were all the same Cincinnati would be a very boring place to live.
So for all of you homeowners out there that like to be unique, here are some very untraditional window treatments from Better Homes and Gardens for your kitchen windows.
Emptying out the Silverware Drawer
Unless you convert to using shower curtain hooks to hang your kitchen curtains on, you really don’t have very many choices when it comes to hooks and hoops in the curtain aisle of the store. So think outside the norm, and use your kitchen utensils to hang your kitchen window curtains instead.
By taking old forks and spoons and bending them into an “s” shape you can hang the curtain on the curve next to the tines of the fork or the bowl of the spoon, and you can then hang the curtains on a rod using the other curve. Just make sure that you hang the kitchen window curtain so that the bowl of the spoon or the tines of the fork are facing outward or they will look just like regular metal curtain hooks.
Cincinnati Window Curtains from Towels
If you are looking for curtains that are just as cute as a button, use tea towels to create café curtains in your kitchen.
To start, choose cute tea towels that match the colors already in your kitchen. Next, put up a thin curtain rod about halfway down the window.
Take one of the edges with the pattern on it and fold it over the curtain rod so that the other end (with the pattern) is just lightly touching the window sill. Mark where the fold is and then remove the towel so you can create the curtain rod pocket.
To create the curtain rod pocket and finish the towel, sew the folded layers of the towel together. This will create a pocket to put the curtain rod through. You can leave the curtain this way and put them up, or you can decorate them a little more and sew buttons along the seam where you sewed the two halves together.
Either way, you will have curtains on your Cincinnati windows that will be the envy of all your friends.
