Because we don’t watch our windows 24 hours a day we can’t always figure out what mysterious objects end up sticking themselves to our windows. There are the obvious things like spider webs and bird droppings, but then there are things that may appear all of the sudden that you have never seen before.
Like odd looking yellow spots that mysteriously just appear one day and get worse and worse every day after.
Where do These Yellow Specks Come From?
These mysterious yellow specks are actually bee droppings. Yes, that’s right bee poop.
The bees eat yellow pollen and after nature takes its course it is released and becomes the mysterious yellow spots on your windows. These yellow spots are not found everywhere, which is why most people have never seen or even know about them. The reason they show up only in certain places is because those places happen to be under the flight path that the bees take every single day back to their hive after going out and collecting the pollen.
If you are all of the sudden seeing yellow spots on your windows, the outside of your home and your vehicles it is because you have a new beehive somewhere nearby.
How to get rid of the Yellow Specks
The yellow specks aren’t like eggs or other material that will eat away at paint or etch the glass in your windows. They will however, cause damage if they are left in place for too long.
These yellow specks are difficult to remove and will need special treatment to get rid of them. They can be removed by a waterfed pole using pure water, which is something you will have to call in a professional to do. Or they can also be scrubbed off using grade 0000 steel wool on wet glass. The steel wool can be found in any store that sells cleaning or home improvement supplies, but it is very important that you purchase the right steel wool to prevent damage to your windows.
Can You Do Anything to Prevent the Yellow Specks?
There are only two things you can do to prevent these yellow spots on your windows. First, you could move your house out of the flight path of the bees. Because this is not likely and you probably don’t want to sell your house and move to another one because of some yellow spots on your windows, the only other solution is to remove the bees.
Removing the bees sounds easier than it could really be though. One, the population is on edge because of the high numbers of bees that have been dying off and you may not be able to find a beekeeper to remove the bees just because you don’t want to deal with yellow spots. However, a beekeeper may be willing to relocate the bees or keep them for their business if the hive is in a reasonable location where they can safely remove the queen bee. This could cost you a bit of money and may not even be possible if the hive is not on your land.
So in the end, you may have no other choice other than to adapt to your commuting neighbors and get used to cleaning your home and windows during the warm weather.
