Is the grime on your windows starting to become an eyesore? Before you call a contractor for window replacement, read our short article on how to effectively get rid of grime with a steam cleaner. This trusty equipment helps you remove the grime without the nasty chemicals and as quickly as possible.
Renewal by Andersen® of New Jersey-New York Metro shares a few tricks in today’s post.
Method 1: Using Handheld Attachment
If your steam cleaner doesn’t come with a steam attachment for windows, you can follow the steps below.
Review the manual that came with your steam cleaner to make sure you’re doing the correct preparations. Afterward, fill the tank until the water mark level and plug the steamer to start creating steam vapor.
Hold the steaming wand and pull the trigger or push the button to release the steam. Run it across the window while producing vapor.
Work from top to bottom until the whole section of glass is clean and clear.
Use a microfiber cloth to wipe the window in a linear direction starting from the top until the whole glass is dry.
Method 2: Using a Squeegee Attachment
You’re in luck if your steam machine comes with a squeegee attachment for window cleaning. Start the process by following the steps below.
Read the manual that came with your steam cleaner and fill the tank until the marked level. Turn it on to start creating steam vapor.
Hold the wand with the squeegee attachment facing the glass. Release the steam while pointing your squeegee attachment on the window. Begin at the bottom section and work your way to the top.
Continue to release vapor while pulling the squeegee down to the bottom. You can go up and down on spots where grime doesn’t easily come off. Don’t forget to wipe the squeegee from time to time to remove extra water.
Lastly, wipe the glass dry with a microfiber towel.
