On Long Island, we’re all tired of watching our energy bills go up year after year. Did you know that replacing your old windows could be one of the fastest ways to lower your energy bills now and into the future? Not only could you have lower energy bills, but your home will be warmer in the winter, cooler in the summer and overall more quiet and comfortable year-round. New high-performance windows are designed to give you more control over your budget and your comfort zone.
If you’re wondering what’s involved in designing, ordering and installing replacement windows and patio doors in your Long Island home, we’ve got answers.
#1 Schedule an In-Home Consultation
We’re more than happy to answer questions about our portfolio of home improvement products in general terms, but the best way for us to help you make informed decisions about window styles, hardware, screens and glass options is right in your home where you can picture what your options will look like when you make the change. Read on to see why.
#2 Gathering & Sharing Information
When your replacement window design consultant arrives at your home, you’ll discuss with them your goals and expectations. It’s important to understand your motivation for replacing your windows, your budget and your long-term plans. Some of the questions your consultants might ask could include:
Don’t worry, this isn’t an inquisition, during the information gathering stage, we encourage you to ask as many questions as you have about anything at all. And we’ll cover everything including styles, prices, warranties and next steps before we leave, just to be sure you have all the information you need to make the best decision for you and your family.
#3 Taking the Grand Tour
After your replacement window professional has a clear picture of your goals and vision, you’ll take a tour of your home – inside and out. During the tour, your consultant will take precise measurements of your windows and patio doors so our factory can build your windows to fit exactly into the footprint left behind when your existing windows are removed. This saves you money as compared to installing “new construction windows” where extensive reconstruction “adjusts the house” to fit the windows.
Along with measuring your windows, your consultant might explain how large trees that shade your windows, shrubs positioned close to the house and other landscaping elements might impact your decisions about glass options and operational styles. For example, if you want operable windows near walkways, you might want to choose sliding or double hung windows that won’t interfere with outside activities like perhaps casements or awning windows might. When controlling the amount of light that comes in is an issue, you have options that give you greater control without compromising your view.
#4 Designing Your Replacement Windows
After touring your home, you and your Renewal by Andersen of Long Island representative will explore our portfolio of fixed and operable windows, discuss differences between our four energy-efficient glass options, and talk about colors, grilles, hardware and other accessories. You’ll have an opportunity to view samples of our different frame and trim materials and factory finishes.
#5 Writing Your Replacement Window Project Estimate
Once you have your plan nailed down, everything will be presented in a written estimate for your review. If you’re happy with the price and window options, you can sign the order and we’ll get your information to the factory to start the construction phase.
If you need some time to think about it or want to check alternative financing options, no problem. You’ll have a copy of the estimate to take to your lender or accountant. If you decide you want to make changes later, we’ll gladly tell you how those changes affect the manufacturing time and final price.
#6 Scheduling the Installation
When you give us the go ahead, we’ll get on your order immediately. When the factory notifies us your replacement windows and patio doors for your Long Island home are ready to be shipped, we’ll contact you to arrange an installation date that’s convenient for you.
Our professional installers will complete the installation and clean up after themselves when they’re finished – all you have to do on installation day is sit back and enjoy your new view of the world after they leave.
