Upgrading Your Home With Colored Window Frames – Michigan

Years ago, most homes had white window frames. If you take a drive around your neighborhood, you will notice that many Michigan homes still fit this trend. Some white-framed windows are original to the homes, and some are replacement windows that the homeowners chose in white. While there is nothing overtly wrong with white window frames, you should know that this is not your only option. Both inside and out, window frames now come in an array of colors, allowing you to customize your look and transform the style of your home.

Exterior Window Frame Colors

If you are re-siding your home, it’s a good time to also get new windows. You can choose an exterior frame color that coordinates with your new siding color. However, you can also replace your windows and stick with your current siding. Changing just the window frame color will create a whole new look. For instance, gray siding with white windows looks entirely different from gray siding with green windows.

Subdued

If you prefer a more subdued look, some window frame colors are Canvas, Sandstone, and Cocoa Bean. Canvas is a rich cream color that would look nice with navy blue siding or even a pale green home. Sandstone is a pale gray — the perfect accent for a deeper gray home or even a white-sided one. Cocoa bean is a rich brown and would look nice with a tan home or pale blue siding.

Bold

For a Michigan home that grabs attention, you may want to go with a bolder window frame color. Red Rock is a rusty red color that would look stunning with a green or even yellow-sided home. Forest Green is another bold option. You can tone it down with light-colored siding, or create a colorful abode by pairing it with a rusty orange!

Interior Window Frame Colors

The interior of your windows does not have to be the same color as the exterior frame. You can instead choose a shade that matches your decor or becomes central to your new interior decorating scheme.

Many Michigan home owners like the look of natural wood interiors. These are perfect for a more traditional or rustic home. However, you can also paint or stain the natural wood frames any color you please. Stain them a rich, cherry brown to match your mantel, or paint them a striking cobalt blue to bring out the sky in a painting. The sky is the limit.

Of course, you can also choose pre-colored interior window frames. Black frames look nice if your room’s walls are white or a very pale color. That pop of darkness around the windows really helps draw the eye towards them. Dark bronze is another nice shade for interiors and can help create an antique look. Of course, there are also more subdued shades like the same Canvas and Sandstone used for exterior window frames.

When the time comes to replace the windows on your Michigan home, don’t be afraid to play with color! Bright, colorful new windows could be the inspiration you need to transform your home’s look entirely, or they could just be a nice little update to keep your decor progressing with the times. Contact Renewal by Andersen to learn more about our colors and to schedule your free consultation.
